Problem Solving
10/1/22
I sent my friend images of the colour palettes I planned to use but as she was still asleep had to wait over an hour for a response but we agreed on which palettes to use after some discussion. I think the only way to avoid the issue would be to have set times to talk about my ideas.
Solution: Catch up every Monday and Tuesday at 12:45pm as thats when she has time spare and I'm writing up on my website before lunch.

After sketching the body idea for Gain with the odd transformation I wasn't sure if the duck part was based off of a brown, greenish, white duck or duckling so couldn't continue with the design until I had an answer from my friend.

After my friend got back to me we reached a stump where my friend couldn't decide whether to go for duckling yellow of the grey duck.
The grey duck would look more aesthetically pleasing however Gain looks like a child and we liked the idea of the duckling to show that they're still a child.

I was going to do smaller badgers feet and have Gain walk awkwardly but decided it would be easier to have it all in proportion for simplicity sake.

Today I wanted to compare Photoshop and Procreate. Below are the two drawings I completed. I liked the smoother lines on procreate and how you can get close to the image on the iPad. However it was different brushes to photoshop which made blending difficult. So although I prefer the feel and ease of procreate I prefer the tools and blending of photoshop. If possible I would like to merge the two for the time being until I can get better with Procreate. I think if I get my own iPad it would be possible to create my own brushes on procreate to get the effect I like for blending.
Alternative: Experiment different blending techniques on ProCreate.

I wanted to experiment with ProCreate more and learn how to shade in other ways so was discussing with my classmate Abbie about shading techniques that they use. He showed me a really cool way to blend without using the smudging tool as I don't like that tool (as shown last week) so we used gaussian blur and clipping mask.
Solution: Abbie and I will be working more withProCreate next week and they're going to help me more so I will get a screen recording of how I blend with gaussian blur on ProCreate.

After using the technique shown to me last week using Gaussian Blur, I realised I had done it wrong so it didn't blend from the outline but instead was about 5 pixels out. Because of this mistake I made I had to restart the colouring of Gain. I didn't mind that much but it did set me back a day. After finishing the shading I spoke to Abbie again to show him what I had done. They then asked if I was adding any extra detail to the drawing and I had an idea for the waistcoat but wasn't sure how to do it so he showed me some really good paintbrushes to use to add in the little details I wanted.

After talking to my friend last Tuesday about the shifting drawing of gain she said the duck body needed more detail however I misread the message and today I removed the colour/shading and small details and redid the colour and shading before I realised I had misread it and had to add more detail so after trying to find some free brushes I went to add some feathers. I then decided I didn't like the scatter of the brushes so I edited to brush and then added more detailing to the body I sent her a picture of the body to see if she liked the changes and she liked it so I was finally finished with the drawing.
