Your Skills, Your Future

My specialism is 2D concept art, mainly focusing on characters. In the first project I expanded my skills by trying out different poses and angles while also improving simple skills like facial features and hands. I will continue to expand these skills by attempting to draw less humanoid characters. Since the first lockdown in 2020, most people now work from home, this is difficult for me as although I have the tools needed to do work from home I struggle to work in an environment where I relax and wind down. I focus on using Adobe Photoshop and a graphics pad however I think learning to use an iPad would be a good skill to have as a backup option. I intend to study Games Art and Concept Art at University and I believe my skills as they are, are good but could be a lot better. However, I believe my current skillset is appropriate for my hopeful career path. Recently I’ve been interested in drawing characters for horror games or less humanoid characters. Luckily, I’m designing characters for a book and one is a changeling so should be fun to play around with. In order to expand my network, I’m going to create an Instagram page to show off my skills and hopefully get noticed online by more people. The inspiration for my art style would be videogames such as Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. The clothes my characters wear is inspired by the people around me, one of my favourite pieces from my second year of MGA was inspired by a boy in my class, his outfits inspire a lot of my art work.
